I have an extensive background in technology since being assigned to manage the information technology unit at my office in 2001.
I manage a network of servers that provide databases to users at several locations including mobile, laptop and smartphone users.
I maintain the computers, servers, networks and software over his entire domain. This includes Windows Server, Windows XP, Windows 7 and all applicable Microsoft products.
I believe in implementing and using available technology in my genealogy business. Much of what works in other offices can also be applied across the genealogy world.
It has been my experience that the largest issue facing genealogy and technology is the many users, who do not have reliable off-site backups of their data. One small issue with the computers they are using and they will lose all of their data.
Proper reliable backups of your data is a must!
